Learn About Cyber Security With Bryon Palitto of Palitto Consulting Services

December 13, 2019 by Kevin Denee
Cyber Security

Technology helps businesses become more efficient and connected, but it comes with downsides as well. Flaws in security can allow criminals to access important data, putting both companies and clients at risk. Cyber security is getting the attention of many businesses, but few know what to do.

Recognizing this issue, Bryon Palitto, CEO and founder of Palitto Consulting Services, has spoken on the topic at several venues over the course of 2019. Even if you can’t hear his presentation in person, you can learn about the most important points: why you’re a target, recent attacks and how to avoid becoming a victim.

Reasons Cyber Criminals Target Businesses

Bryon Palitto News Story PhotoCommercial enterprises have a wealth of data, even if they don’t know it. According to a recent survey, 54% – 68% of small businesses have personal customer information on file, including the following:

  • Billing addresses
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers

Online crooks can use this information to access accounts and potentially gain more critical data such as credit card numbers.

Businesses are also at risk for ransomware. These programs lock down systems so hackers can hold them hostage and demand ransom. In the end, cyber criminals are looking for power to force others to give them what they want.

Attacks You Should Know About

According to 2018 surveys, 67% of businesses were affected by attacks, making cyber security more important than ever. You may have heard of some of the biggest cases:

  • DDoS attack on Telegram Messenger
  • Stuffing attack on Dunkin’ Donuts
  • Hackers breach Citrix servers
  • Toyota data breach

Ways To Protect Yourself

Despite the dangers, there are ways to prevent breaches. First of all, you should hire professionals to do a risk assessment. This identifies weak areas in security protocol and systems, which you can then bolster.

You should also make sure all employees understand basic email security, password protocol and other relevant cyber security measures. Everyone is responsible for protecting a company, from the CEO to part-time workers.

CES 2019: 5G, AR, VR, IOT and More!

February 5, 2019February 5, 2019 by Kevin Denee
CES 2019

PCS’s Tim Zarkovacki and Bryon Palitto attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 in Las Vegas. CES is one of the largest technology shows in the world, with attendees visiting from across the globe.

As stated on www.ces.tech, “CES Is the Global Stage for Innovation. CES is the world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years — the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.”

With more than 182,000 attendees from 160 countries, Tim and Bryon were able connect with a wide variety of businesses and individuals. It is valuable for our team to attend these types of conferences for a variety of reasons.

Twenty years ago, enterprises drove consumer technology. Today, consumers are driving the enterprises to produce the technology they want. This show is filled with leading edge consumer electronics and technologies. To understand this will allow us to understand where the needs of our clients will be.

CES provides the opportunity to see how new technology is being used and adopted across many verticals that affect our customers. It also provides a venue to talk with vendors and technologists about where the tech is going, its strengths and weaknesses, and how best advise our clients in adopting it.

Emerging Technologies

The major themes of the conference included the 5G cellular network and related technologies. Our team also noted the continual advancement of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, with more realistic business applications coming into view. Also, the impact of IoT devices, especially their detection abilities, was also a major focus. Of course, Artificial Intelligence is also a big part of these emerging consumer technologies.

Another big trend is that we will continue to see more human to machine partnerships, like we see with Alexa, IBM Watson, Google Home, etc. Voice is a huge trend, and the industry is seeing consumers pivoting from typing to speaking. The technology is maturing, which makes for easier use and adoption of the tech. It’s interesting to note that smart speakers are using voice because it is the quickest path to cognition in the brain.

Today we are in the data age, and we all understand we are being challenged with privacy and security issues. We are also experiencing an entire generation that is built on being connected with technology. Not only is Internet connectivity expected, it is assumed.

As you and your business continues to advance forward, attempting to make the most of the available technologies, we welcome a discussion with one of our solution architects. Our team is dedicated to helping our clients continue to make intelligent use of available technologies. We love tech and we want to help. Contact us today to start the discussion.

PCS Attends CUNA Tech 2018

September 26, 2018 by Kevin Denee
Custom systems and data silos integration solutions

The PCS team appreciated the opportunity to sponsor the 23rd annual CUNA Technology Council Conference in San Francisco on September 12-15th. This is the second year Tim Zarkovacki and Bryon Palitto have attended.

Our team loves to listen, and here’s what we continue to hear: Credit Unions have many software platforms as they make decisions based on the best-of-breed approach. As such, there are many data silos and business process gaps, which can be eliminated if they are properly integrated. Palitto Consulting has been working with Credit Unions for the last ten years and has experience in integrating many of these platforms to enhance data visibility and increase business process efficiency.

Our publications on Fiserv and Jack Henry Symitar integrations show just a couple scenarios of how integration looks using industry standard Credit Union software.

If you and your team need help with integrating data silos or improving business process, contact our team today.

Enterprise Connect 2018: Team Collaboration, AI and IoT

April 19, 2018April 19, 2018 by Kevin Denee

Our team members Bryon Palitto and Tim Zarkovacki attended the 2018 annual Enterprise Connect conference in Orlando Florida. Joining other business and technology leaders, our team is always exploring how PCS can help businesses maximize the latest technologies.

With the workplace growing more complex, and key constituents in multiple geographic locations (sometimes across the globe), team collaboration is a vital concern. This topic was a large theme and focus at Enterprise Connect. Team collaboration is rapidly spreading across areas of video, and instant messaging, creating a “single pane of glass” view into all communications. With team members having to deal with more information, it’s imperative that collaboration is seamless and without friction.

It was interesting to observe the new big-name players that are currently entering the collaboration space (for example, Facebook). These new players have the potential of making adoption very high due to familiarity with their already existing platforms.

Another theme from the event was the continued rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). Our development team at PCS is excited about how our integrations and deployments to automate AI and IoT will directly contribute to automated business processes. Bringing this type of value is one of our largest goals at Palitto Consulting Services.
